Sizes here are for the finished pot. The extra wall clay is thickest at the base and fades to nothing at the trim height. "Throw at" includes all of it.
These are typical figures. Your clay's data sheet or a test tile will be closer.
Measure it with a test tile
Mark a line on wet clay, fire the tile, then measure the line again. Any unit works.
Clay density
1.8 is a common figure for plastic clay. To check yours, divide a lump's weight by the water it displaces.
